Cops Kill Baptist Preacher! It was his own fault!

In more Baptist news, undercover cops shot a Baptist preacher who was working with drug addicts.
This brings up a huge point that no one ever comments on.
Cops deal with criminals. They cut some corners. They use confrontational arrest methods that work well because they have guns and bullet-proof vests. Criminals are mostly crazy and lack resources to defend themselves legally. The are also obnoxious and mean and most people want to be rid of them.
When regular people run up against law enforcement they often get killed because they do not understand the rules. They think cops are their friends. (Cops are only friends with other cops. Cops are never your friends.)
This fellow thought he was being robbed. He tried to get away in his car. The cops shot him. The cops were not obviously cops. They were in plain clothes with their badges around their necks. They never expected to shoot a pastor who was giving rent money to a drug addict. They fall back on the training crutch that allows them to shoot people without feeling guilt. "They felt threatened."
That pastor never knew they were cops.
The problem is in the training and the attitude.
The fellow's wife is filing a wrongful death lawsuit. I approve.
One side note, if cops bust down your door cause they got the wrong address and think you are a drug dealer, they will still shoot your dog and terrorize your family. They might even find some drugs. Then when they figure out it is the wrong address they may or may not say they are sorry, but they won't buy you a new door... Or a new puppy....

  1. I'm sure I won't make any friends with this comment, but the older I get, the more I tend to agree with one of my fellow redneck neighbors. He says that there is no such thing as an honest cop, because half of them are literally criminals who belong behind bars themselves, and the other half knows it and won't do anything about it. Just for the record, that neighbor stays on the right side of the law, so it's not a matter of sour grapes. Also, a former co-worker's son went into law enforcement, worked for three departments, then left the field because all three were corrupt. That being said, there are individual cops who I know and like, but they're few and far between.

  2. I would agree but just for the benefit of the doubt-I would add a third category, well-meaning idiots. They just don't have a clue. Know someone that fits into that category. I think they keep him in the dark!
