A Thanksgiving day to remember

My cousin fell over dead yesterday. He was in his backyard talking to his neighbor and he collapsed. His father died this summer. You may have seen the post...
Now here is the deal...
I didn't always get along with my cousin but he was family.
He was not quite sixty years of age.
While I sometimes annoyed him and he annoyed me, and he was somewhat of a comic foil to what I see as my clever sophistication, he was my family and I was intensely loyal to him.
When my uncle died I was ready. He was past eighty years of age.
But my cousin was not that old. I still had things to disagree with him.
He had a huge amount of information.
Strangely enough, I am not dealing with it very well.
I'm letting my older brother handle it.
This is not fair to my older brother...
But, my older brother is a nice fellow and won't tell me off.
I've thought about putting everything on Craigslist and getting the heck out of here. However, Muddyvalley tells me I would not be happy buying his property in Florida cause it is too far from the beach...

    1. Oh, sometimes I listen to too much old country-western music... I'm going to return that Wilco box, I just need one more load of fertilizer! HOnest! I was going to plant wheat and buy it from Wilco! Really!

  2. Sorry to hear it. Kind of sets you up and slaps you sideways when your own generation starts to go.

    1. Ah, but I have banjo music to make me feel better, oh wait... That was the problem last night, banjo music, I need fiddle music.... It is bad when you get your downers and uppers mixed up!

  4. Ouch!

    Proverbs has these strange words:

(Proverbs 31:6-7 KJV) Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

It sounds like you qualify as one with a heavy heart.

We will be here when you come out on the other side.

    Grace and peace.

    1. Pumice, I'm going to save that verse for future reference... But I must counter with Proverbs 20:1 "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."

  5. Sorry to hear that Budde. I guess it is hard on the survivors but if I had a choice, just going out like a light switch turning off must be one of the better ways.

  7. It's a good day when we consciously are vertical or horizontal by choice. Unfortunately there's a day when that is another's decision. Very sorry for your loss. It's tough when they are close or family and not so close.
