After like 30 years of Reagan is an evil monster, and it is Bushes fault cause he is the devil and bumper stickers that read, "Bush, the only dope you should shoot," and finally someone shoots a politician. So now it is Sarah Palin's fault?
I'm sure plenty of morons will buy that one.
As far as the shooting goes. Yeah it is a shame.
The real story is the 75 year old guy that knocked the shooter down. The guy is a senior citizen! Then the local sheriff goes on TV and blames politics. Yeah, the local sheriff was sure on the ball.

The chances of being shot in at a political rally are less than being struck by lightning. Kind of like being struck by a chunk of an exploding space shuttle.
But, we do need gun control and not idiot control.
The main thing we can learn from this shooting is that 1. Just cause he is a senior citizen doesn't mean he can't knock you down... 2. Smoking a lot of dope and looking at internet conspiracy sites makes you really paranoid and weird and is probably more dangerous than listening to Sarah Palin.

Well yes, I would be a medal of honor winner myself-if I would have had the chance... I just didn't want to scare the other soldiers with my awesome kung-fu fighting skills!!!
Or, Yes! I would have stopped the shooter by dropping a large ACME anvil on his head, if I would have had the chance... Wonder if they will put me on TV now... I'm kind of a hero-or I would have been if I would have had the chance!

ReplyDeleteWhen Ronald Reagan and Brady were shot, I don't recall any news commentators stating it happened due to a divisive political climate. If a Republican had been targeted in AZ, the comments would be different. In fact, the victim would have been vilified. If someone shot Sarah Palin, the news people would probably say she had incited it. Shootings like this happen regularly in the US. Fort Hood wasn't considered a result of divisive politics and got a lot less coverage. The death of any one by a deranged shooter is a tragedy and should receive equal coverage and national mourning. The issue isn't that Mrs. Gifford ia a politician. It is that human beings were killed or injured by a madman who gave ample evidence of mental illness and didn't receive treatment or confinement.

I expect there will be a bigger push for stricter gun control now.

Ralph, What we can learn from this tragedy is what the regular people are heroes, like the lady who grabbed the clip, and the authorities will blame all the wrong people and pretend to do something about it.
The guy had lots of problems. Threats were made. No security was provided to the Congress Lady, no mental help was given to the nutcase shooter, and now well will get censorship and gun control. We won't see an increase in the mental health budget. (Not that anyone understands how to help the mentally ill anyway)
And no one will admit that random acts happen and if you run for office you take risks.
Nutcases have run their automobiles though crowds gathered on the sidewalks also.
Don't forget the shooter ia a wacked out liberal atheist pot head. Must really suck for NPR that he was not an anti abortion right winger!
