I hate Windows more...
But I was once a die-hard Apple fan.
Oh for the days of the Commodore 64... Or when Apple sort of cared about its customer base...
My wife has an iPad first generation.
The Apple "i" concept is based on the idea that you want to sy
nc stuff to a main computer. If there are more people with one main computer then you have different accounts. This is a stupid idea.
The iPad is a fine stand alone computer. There is no reason to ever hook it up to a main computer for backup.
So.... Now that iOS 5.1 is the last version that will work with the iPad I and now that Safari won't load webpages and I can't update it... I suppose it is time for a Kindle? A Windows Surface? I may be over-ruled in end but I do not want to buy another iPad!
This Blog does not in any Fathomable way reflect any of the current opinions or beliefs of the institution I used to work for. In fact my former employer has completely disavowed any link or reference to them in this blog.

Just think, Budd, we remember when folks used encyclopedias and wrote letters and made notes in notebooks!
ReplyDeleteI make notes in notebooks...
DeleteI guess my I pad is second generation , still working fine .
ReplyDeleteWhich is amazing . My windows based computers are so screwed up from pointing and clicking that they are hopelessly mired in" stuff ". My friend says he really likes my apple pod/pad . He hasn't had to come in the office for 2 years to straighten out my window problems .
Now I'm suffering from tech overload again .
new phone , Samsung Note 3 , Amazing device .
I love it . Gave the tracfone to the wife . She is challenged with its use . So far she can answer and end a call . I had it set up on flip open to answer , flip shut to end call . Next comes the mini course in using the built in phone directory . It's just to confusing at this time .
She is stuck in the rotary phone age .
We have a rotary phone. I just hooked it up. Too bad we are not actually hooked to a phone line... Now if I just had another one we could have our own phone company... Or I could just raise my voice slightly...
DeleteNice to hear from you again. You know "Old" is kind of relative term in the age of farmers.

ReplyDeleteI have a first gen iPad. I also had a Kindle but the iPad convinced me to buy a Kindle Fire when it came out. I'll never buy another iPad. For day-to-day web and basic desktop apps I use a $249 Samsung Chromebook. Windows PCs blow. I have 6+.
ReplyDeleteHi Art, I started to delete the extra posts but then it says I deleted the post which still results in an extra post and really, who cares? The Blogger interface is a little annoying at times!
DeleteWife is thinking about a used Kindle. It is very hard for us to switch brands. Plus we are bottom feeders and never buy new.

ReplyDeleteI've got a Kindle. Got it last Christmas. It stays on the book shelve. Don't know what it will do or what to do with it. It's just a book reader, right???
ReplyDeleteHad Apple IIs back in the day. Back when you could work on them. Of course I also had tube type radios that sounded sweeter than the stuff out now.
Progress s@#ks.
Hey Bobby,
DeleteThe Kindle is also a tablet thing that you can get on the internet with. You can type on the touch screen and you can get apps that do what I'm sure are really important things.
I don't care much for iPad style computer. My wife loves that format.
Is Art replying on the Kindle Fire? I think he has one. :-)
