Rosco gives me a hand with the hay

The end of the season should be a time when you look forward to a slow down. But now there is late season hay, feed to make, wheat to plant, and farm equipment to clean and put away. Maybe I should have had more kids...

I need a sidekick...

This is an incredibly modern hay raking setup. Rosco is  a very helpful dog.

  1. Years ago, there used to be a coyote that would show up whenever I was cutting or baling hay that would trot back and forth hunting for mice, rats and little rabbits just like Rosco is doing.

I called him Willy to be sorta clever.

    1. I had the same thing at a place I used to farm. White coyote that would be there every year when I was baling hay. My neighbor shoots them but after a few years where mice wiped out our new grass plantings I have been a lot more tolerant. Also, we haven't had sheep in years and people tend to dump cats off on our farm. (I do of course assume the coyotes become friends with all the woodland creatures.)

    1. Rosco is an exceptional dog. He belongs to my brother's family but when they are gone he finds me.
